Dr. Michael Ackerman is a medical intuitive, distance healer, and chiropractic
physician in La Jolla, California. In addition to a meditation practice since his early
teens, and 21 years of study under a world-renowned spiritual teacher, he spent 3
years in India studying and performing volunteer medical work, culminating in an
inner transformation that radically changed his approach to life and healing. Now in
addition to practicing as a chiropractic physician, he offers healing work which goes
beyond the boundaries of most other mainstream and alternative therapies, wedding
Eastern and Western medicine--along with his spiritual insight--into a powerful
synthesis to offer new help in eliminating the physical and emotional pain of others.
Dr. Michael Ackerman has been in private practice for 25 years. His background
includes a bachelor’s degree from Whitman College in the field of psychology. His
graduate education was completed at the National University of Health Sciences in
Chicago, where he held teaching assistantships in anatomy, biomechanics, radiology,
and orthopedics. He was published nationally in a text on clinical chiropractic
technique and graduated with honors as class valedictorian, receiving two degrees:
Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine.
Dr. Ackerman’s original focus and specialization was in sports medicine. He worked
with amateur, collegiate, and professional athletes from most sports backgrounds,
including the New Orleans Saints and the Delta Festival Ballet Company. He was
director of the Sports and Family Chiropractic Center in Monterey, California, and
in 1997, after his transformative experience in India, founded The Center for Depth
Healing in La Jolla, California.
Dr. Michael Ackerman currently sees patients in La Jolla and works by phone with
people in the United States and throughout the world.
